- Its nickname is the Banana Republic because it grows and exports a lot of bananas
- Honduran Flag is composed of 3 equal horizontal stripes, with the upper and lower ones being blue and representing the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. The central stripe is white. It contains five blue stars representing the five states of the Central American Union. The middle star represents Honduras, located in the center of the Central American Union. The legislation designating this design for the flag of Honduras passed into law on January 18, 1949.
- Children's Day or Dia del Niño, is celebrated in homes, schools and churches on September 10; on this day, children receive presents and have parties similar to Christmas or birthday celebrations. Some neighborhoods have piñatas on the street.
- Soccer or Futbol is the main sport in Honduras.
- The national flower is the famous orchid
- The National Bird of Honduras is the Scarlet Macaw

- The Maya Indians were some of the first people to live in Honduras just like the Native Indians of the U.S.A. The maya had a written language that used pictures instead of letters and numbers. Miles Uncle Josecarlo is a Maya Indian.

ReplyDeleteIts great to hear that you are going out of the country for such a good purpose. I would like for you to no that I'm going to Honduras in January to give out shoes, cloths, and glasses. We also set up water clorinaters. I've been told from my father (he leads the missionary outreach) that the don't speak a word of english so learn some spanish.
P.S. i can't spell so sorry for spelling errors

ReplyDeleteHow did it go? Did you like it? I remember going on my first mission trip out of the country.. to actually the same place you went. My church went and we were down there for a week or so and we had a very great time learning about their customs,food and all that stuff. But it was really exciting. This year i'm going to El Salvador. Hope you liked it down there. I did.
